Hand-harvested French grey salt, also called sel gris and Celtic sea salt, is our everyday favorite of the Old World sea salts. It’s sold in crunchy flakes or as the powder-fine Velvet de Guerande. The gray color comes from mineral-rich clay on the bottom of the salt pan, where the moist crystals are raked up after the sun has evaporated the seawater. Use it as a finishing salt; sprinkle on salads and even atop caramel and chocolate treats.

FAQ
How old are these spices?
We purchase what we need every year right after the spices are harvested. These spices are as fresh as you can get. They are not sitting in a warehouse for multiple years. The oldest spices we carry will be one year old compared to the commodity market which warehouses spices for 10+ years before selling them to you.
